EPub 2017 Mar 10. doi: 10.1007/s00403-017-1728-1 - GCGs show anti-tyrosinase activity via tyrosinase inhibition, reduce melanin content in melanoma cells, reduce the level of reactive oxygen species, down-regulate the tyrosinase-related gene (MITF, TYR, TRP-1, and TRP-2), and down-regulate protein expression (TRP-2 gene). The combined mechanistic attributes have been shown to elicit skin lightening/brightening effects.
