WHAT IS LONGVIDA?

Understanding what Longvida is helps explain what sets it apart from the rest!

In a market flooded with numerous curcumin products, it can be difficult to decipher  what sets each apart from the crowd and how that can apply to the finished product you are formulating.

We're here to clear up the confusion!

Curcumin is a compound found in the turmeric root. Longvida Optimized Curcumin is a patented and proprietary extract that is standardized to curcumin content. We often use brand names to help provide recognition and transparency, as is the case with our patented Longvida. Paired with patented Solid Lipid Curcumin Particle Technology (SLCP), the curcumin in Longvida is able to survive digestion and enter the blood stream to reach targeted tissues in the body. SLCP coats the curcumin in Longvida with a lipid matrix to overcome the common issue associated with curcumin: bioavailability.

But what is bioavailability and why is it a common issue with curcumin?

Bioavailability is a subcategory of absorption. It is a measure of the proportion of, in this case curcumin, that circulates when it is introduced in the body and is, in theory, able to have an active effect. This is important for curcumin because while the purported benefits associated with the yellow spice are numerous, it is also known that curcumin is quickly digested and excreted when taken orally. In laymen's, it is not easily absorbed by the body due to its highly hydrophobic nature; however, curcumin is soluble in lipids. Longvida captures this essence in one tidy package by coating the highly hydrophobic curcumin in soluble lipids to allow greater absorption and, thus, bioavailability in the body.

Longvida delivers free curcumin, a natural antioxidant from the turmeric root, to the blood stream and tissues. The science behind Longvida is what sets it apart! We have spent over ten years collaborating with scientists to develop, perfect, and study our optimized curcumin. Longvida was developed by neuroscientists at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) to overcome the greatest known issue with curcumin products: bioavailability. Researchers worked to create the optimized curcumin over a ten-year period and through multiple in vitro and in vivo trials.

To utilize curcumin effectively, it must first get into the body as an intact molecule. In free form, curcumin rapidly degrades, which is known as glucuronidation. To optimize absorption, UCLA developed cutting-edge technology to help protect curcumin from being quickly digested and excreted. The technology, SLCP, uses a patented combination of lipids to gently coat the curcumin, forming a micelle.

This allows the  curcumin in Longvida to circulate in the body, getting to areas requiring innate support, including the proven ability to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB). Beyond the technology, our continuous research offers well-being support for a variety of health applications.
